Ecuador, told differently. Made to be lived.

Welcome to our store

Valdivia

Between 3800 and 1500 BC, they paused their journey to build villages and ceremonial and everyday spaces that strengthened their ties to the sacred. In understanding nature, they forged an intimate pact: she would provide them with corn, water, and earth; in return, the Valdivians would offer respect, tribute, and care. From this harmonious relationship, their ceramics were born—vessels, plaques, and figurines—objects that combined utility with the symbolic and spiritual language of this people. Spirals, rhombuses, diagonals, crosses, and triangles continue to tell stories of the serpent, the feline, the owl, the four cardinal directions, the moon, and the solstices; and of woman, as the archetype and source of life and time. Valdivia is the memory of a people who transformed earth into art, and art into a way of understanding the universe.
